Shakespeare Reflection

Shakespeare's language is definitely hard for me to understand. The old language he uses in his plays and all the metaphors and similis he uses to describe what's going on in the play is just kind of hard for me to understand. I can't really keep up with what's going on in the story and I usually have to look it up on the internet or ask classmates to figure out what's going on. In Macbeth it was kind of the same way. It was hard for me to figure out what was going on in the story.. It's actually kind of good though to start reading these kinds of things for college, but personally I don't like reading it. In Macbeth, it didn't really seem interesting until the end, when they battled to kill Macbeth after finding out he was the bad guy. I really liked the idea they had on how to attach Macbeths castle by having each of the men carry a branch from the forest and move closer and closer to the castle, little by little. This seemed to be the only part that I really understood. Other then that Macbeth, to me, was pretty boring and hard to understand.

Creative Writing

Once upon a time up in the North Pole there was a very special school that was full of Goblins and Turkeys. The Goblins were the jocks of the school and were popular, while the turkeys were inferior and did whatever the Goblins told them to do. When Thanksgiving came around, the turkeys did the best they could to stay away from the Goblins because they knew the Goblins would try and eat them. On this Thanksgiving though everything changed. Some of the Goblins caught too many turkeys and killed them but didn't eat them. After leaving those turkeys alone thinking nothing would happen, something unexpectedly occured. The turkeys rised after being killed and turned into zombie turkeys. These zombies turkeys had only one thing on there mind...Revenge! On the next day at school the Goblins felt good about themselves and thought everything was normal. That night everything changed. After returning to the haunted house where they lived some of the Goblins were killed in there sleep. The Goblins never knew who killed there brothers and sisters but they would soon find out. It was christmas time now and Santa was coming. Santa told the Goblins that they have created a horrible creature named Zombie turkeys and that the Zombie turkey was the one who killed there brothers and sisters. The Goblins were vengeful and found some of the Zombie turkeys and killed most of them, but one. This Zombie turkey found out that Santa was the cause of all the Zombie turkeys deaths. Alone he traveled to where Santa lived, sneaked into the room Santa was in, and killed him. After killing Santa the Zombie turkey had no reason to stay alive. So he attacked the Goblins and killed as much as he could before finally dying because there was to much Goblins for him. The Goblins were sick and tired of losing there brothers and sisters so they decided that at the next day of school they would kill all the turkeys. The Goblins did end up killing all of them and ruled the North Pole by themselves without anybody to bother them.

Sonnet

Thought it would be fun to take my moms car
Until out of nowhere i saw a cop
Messing around not going to far
I pulled over my heart suddenly stopped

Waiting for a ticket, thought i was dead
Felt like a weight came off of my shoulders
"Hell of a game last night" he said instead
Took a breath the cop put back his folders

Relieved i thought i was grounded for life
He let me go, not ruining the night
Letting me go, being so nice
My parents and i didnt have to fight

Thanked him later,  i didnt get busted
He said make sure you win don't get frustrated

Beowulf Movie Review

A major change to the plot of the story is how Beowulf is actually a real person. He just looks like a monster compared to the other men because of how tall he was. In the book it was said he was the devils slave and seeing him as a human was really different. He also had a son which seemed very strange. Changing these parts really made it weird and adding the love story with that girl and Grendel seemed even more strange. The director of the movie made it very different and I didn't really like what he did with the movie.

An effective change in the movie is how Grendel has a son and he wasn't really a devil's slave or a monster that they described in the poem. He was a regular man who just looked like a troll and had an affair with that one lady. It was like Grendel had a love story and Beowulf ended it by killing him. Another effective change is how Beowulf doesn't really fight for himself and to get fame. He did it for the people of the town and didn't really seem like he wanted all that fame.

Some religious conflicts that came in the movie that was not in the poem was the Christian Monk that told the people to just pray to God and Grendel wouldn't hurt them. He was also able to baptize all of the warriors that was at the city. This was the religion that was most affected in the movie.

School Uniforms

People actually think that school uniforms are appropriate for schools. I think it sucks to have to have school uniforms. When students have to wear school uniforms, it limits there personal expression and you don't really get to see the style of someone. Students should freely express themselves when they wear clothes to school. You can get to know a person just by the way they dress. When students are forced to wear school uniforms you don't really get to know the style of someone and what there all about when there outside of school.

Having to make school uniforms would also cost the school money. The way are economy is nowadays, it's kind of dumb if schools waste money on getting uniforms for all the students in the school. The schools should just be worried about getting books, teachers, and faculty staffs for there school. Adding in school uniforms just adds in another problem for the school.

Immigration

Imagine being told that you have to leave America after living here basically your whole life. Well that's what was told to Nadia Habib and her mother. They have to be deported after living in the U.S all these years. Not only do they have to leave America, but there family as well. The father, her brothers, and her baby sister will stay in America while Nadia and her mother get deported.

I think it's unfair that Nadia and her mother have to get deported. Nadia has been in the U.S since she was a baby and only now she has to leave. She graduated from high school here and is continuing her studies in college as well. I think that if you were here in the U.S since you were a baby, you should automatically be a U.S citizen. It's unfair that she has to be split from her family and stop her education after being in the U.S basically her whole life. She should be able to stay with her family in the U.S along with her mother, unless they have a criminal record.

"Catcher in the Rye" Book Review

It was a regular day in English class. Essays due, lectures given, objectives on the board. On this particular day though there was something different on that board. It said that we were going to be given a book called the "Catcher in the Rye". I've heard about it before from the Senior boys last year and was told that it was a pretty interesting book. I thought it was going to be a good book as well, but the only part that was confusing to me was the cover of the book. I didn't get how the title and the picture compared to each other.

The book was interesting to me in the beginning because it started off with Holden being at a football game. Holden already seemed like the type of person who never wanted to be around anyone because while all of the students were cheering on the football team on one side of the bleachers, he was on the other side. After hearing about how he dropped out of 4 different schools it made me wonder what made him so unsuccessful. When hearing about the childhood he went through I then understood why he was having a problem.

Personally I didn't really like the book. Towards the middle and end of the book all Holden really does is tell how phony the people were. It was kind of getting on my nerves. I think my older cousin would like this book because he Holden acts the same way. My cousin doesn't really like to do the family activities we have. It seems like he just likes to be on his own sometimes and that's why i think he would like this book.

Imagine being thirsty after a long practice and realizing you have $2, just enough for a gatorade. You get to the store as fast as you can to buy a gatorade and quench your thirst. As soon as you buy it, you get outside, open the cover, and realize all of your friends that were at practice with you are waiting for you, asking for a drink. No matter how bad you want to say no to them, you know you have to give them a drink because if not they'll think your gritz and will probably talk about how gritz you are to other people.

An experience I had with this problem was after one of the hardest basketball practices we had, after losing one of are games. At the end of practice i looked in my bag and realized I had $2. I was really thirsty so I started running to Superette to get me a gatorade with my money. Little did I know three of my teammates were following me to the store because they saw me grab money out of my bag. I was really thirsty and grouchy and didn't want to share, so when one of my friends asked me for a drink I told them no. They started to make me feel bad saying they bought stuff for me before and they gave me a drink of there gatorade when they had. I ended up giving them the gatorade after drinking about half of it. It's just one of those times where you have to share with your friends or else they start giving you the guilt treatment.

Giving up something you really want is really hard but sometimes you have to just go with it. Giving up my gatorade was really hard for me because I was so thirsty, but i know if I didn't give it to my friends they wouldn't like me as much. Sometimes you have to be sneaky to get what you want.

Sharing is Caring

I picked this title because sharing my drink with some of my friends after practice is hard form me. I always try to hide my food and drink when i buy it because i know my friends will ask for some. "Sharing is Caring" is a good phrase for me to work on as well. Sometimes though it can be good not to share because you have to do things for yourself. It's good to not share if your having money problems and your hungry at lunch. You don't need to share if you don't want to, but it's good if you do cause people will think you're a better person.
